- SHAREWARE RELEASE 1.20 -
--------------------------
CAMVIEW is a project which has developed from a need for a quick and easy
way to verify the programs written for the CNC milling machines where I
work. After looking for 6 months for a commercial program which would
accomplish this task and finding nothing available for under $4000.00,
I dug out the programming manuals and went to work. 6 months and 30 or
so revisions later, CAMVIEW 1.01 emerged. This version was written and
tested on a Bridgeport V2XT under the BOSS 10 programming subset. It
assumes the following...
N = Line Numbers
G0 = Rapid Mode
G1 = Linear Interpolation (feed)
G2 = Clockwise Arc
G3 = Counter Clockwise Arc
These commands are assumed to be MODAL (G1 will remain in effect until
it is cancelled by another G code). I think most controllers at least
have these commands in common so CAMVIEW should work fine under most
conditions. If your controller has different conventions (and you are
a registered user) mail that information to me and I'll customize a copy
for you for a modest fee. Currently, the G2 and G3 commands produce only
STRAIGHT LINES but they are represented by different colors. If you find
any Bugs or have any suggestions, PLEASE drop me a line so that i can
incorporate them in the next release.

STARTUP:
Note that the default setup in CAMVIEW reads only files with a .NCC
suffix. There must be at least 1 of these files in the startup directory
or the program will abort. CAMVIEW was written on and for a VGA system.
It has had very little testing on an EGA system but the code is there
to detect that hardware and it should work. If the program hangs under EGA,
you can use CAMVIEW /EGA on the command line to force EGA mode.
To start Camview type
CAMVIEW
and issue a carrige return.
You will then be presented with an opening screen. The input screen will
follow shortly along with a directory listing of all the files in the
directory from which CAMVIEW was started which share the specified suffix.
entering S will take you to the setup configuration screen,
entering Q will take you to the DOS prompt,
Just enter the filename of the desired file and press return....
The desired file will be read and the graphics screen will appear.
The tool paths will be automatically scaled and displayed on the screen.
Here is where the fun part comes in....
F1 will ZOOM IN
F2 will ZOOM OUT
F3 will PAN LEFT
F4 will PAN RIGHT
F5 will PAN UP
F6 will PAN DOWN
S will goto SETUP
Q will goto DOS prompt.
SPACE will ReRun CAMVIEW
You can isolate any part of the screen and ZOOM in to see exactly
whats going on. If the Z REP options is switched on, a series of
arrows on the left and right side of the screen let you know whats
happening on the Z axis while the program is running.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next release of CAMVIEW should include the following......
Full 3-D, 3 Axis support with rotation and scaling
Mouse Support
A utility to read and write .DXF files
Output to raytracing and CSG modules
